To me this painting is a Spiritual portrayal of the Soul that is weary from preying upon the weakness of others in the jungle of "this world." Now the Soul is praying in readiness to surrender its might and power unto Something grander and mightier than itself. It desires to rest, to surcease the struggle and lie back from the "this worldly fight for survival, and rest back on the Ocean of God.
The lion is me looking out to the Omnipotence and Omnipresence of the Ocean, which represents to me, upon this Earth, the depths of the unsearchable and majesty of God.
